There are a wealth of activities available in the Ayrshire area.

From the world famous golf courses to Ayr Racecourse. We also have fantastic restaurants on our doorstep and many cultural and historic sites.

Dumfries House

Dumfries House is an amazingly preserved 18th century mansion house with one of the best Thomas Chippendale furniture collections in the world. Set in impressive restored grounds it is a must see part of any visit. Its recently restored walled garden is one of the biggest in Scotland and was opened by the Queen in 2014.

Culzean Castle

A wonderfull Robert Adam 18th Century Castle located on cliff tops with outstanding coastal views. The castle and impressive grounds are one of the biggest tourist attractions in Scotland.

Robert Burns Birthplace Museum

 Comprising of Burns' birthplace cottage and a recently opened interactive museum. This high quality attraction in Alloway is a must for both young and old.

Burns House Museum

The home of Robert Burns during some of his most prolific writting years, this fascinating museum is a piece of Burns' life frozen in time.

 

Local Restaurants

The Fairburn Inn - great quality food at reasonable prizes in lovely surroundings....and only 2 minutes on foot from Ardwell.

The Black Bull - recently renovated in the neighbouring village of Tarbolton, this restaurant will not disappoint with its good choice of modern food.

The Clock Tower Cafe Bar - A modern menu using the finest local ingredients and situated on the historic Auchincruive Estate.

Boswells Coachhouse - A cosy coffee shop, restaurant and gift shop located on Auchinleck Estate.

Days Out

Ayr

The neighbouring town of Ayr has a wide choice of shopping ranging from chain stores to many small shops and boutiques. It also has a range of activities such as a picture house, 10 pin bowling and go carting.

Glasgow

Boasting one of the biggest ranges of shops in the UK Glasgow never fails to impress. With fabulous town centre shopping and large outlying shopping centres it will keep even the most hardened shopper satisfied. Glasgow also has a wealth of cultural offerings with some of the best museums in Scotland including The Kelvingrove, Transport Museum and Burrel collection.

Arran

This is a must for any visitor to the West Coast of Scotland. Often referred to as Scotland in Miniature, Arran has fantastic scenery. With tremendous mountains, beautiful Glens and stunning views it never fails to impress. Arran also has a fabulous offering of own produced whisky, cheese, beer, chocolate and much much more. Only 45 minutes to the regular ferry service it can easily fit into a day or more.
